Unpacking His Timber
I grunted at the effort of picking up and moving one of my father’s many cardboard boxes. It was much heavier than I’d expected, just glancing at it, and my back twinged in complaint. He’d left a hell of a mess when he’d kicked the bucket, my father. His house was neat and orderly, presumably my mother’s influence on him. She’d always run a tight ship in her home, as the mental scars of my childhood could attest to. His shed, however, was a totally different story. The detritus of a million different woodworking projects littered the floor and bench spaces – even the ceiling had turned…

Our Video Mistake
As a filmmaking hobbyist, I thought I had the skill to take on this whole project by myself, but boy was I wrong. The production I had created was at a larger scale than I thought. It was going to need more than a one-man band. It was going to need a whole orchestra. On the days of the shoot, things went quite smoothly. I think I can attribute this to the fact that I splashed out a whole heap of money on a bunch of experts who had the skills and know-how to get their part of the job done. I went through the footage and audio we captured…

Exciting Home Time
You know the old saying, Rome wasn’t built in a day? I’ve never known this to be more true than now. As some of you may know, I won some money two years ago. I won’t get into specifics but let’s just say that it’s enough money to allow me to quit my job and never work a day again while still giving me the freedom to live a life of luxury. My first big purchase with this money was to build a new home along the Mornington Peninsula so I could wake up each day with a beautiful sea view, step from my bed to my balcony and be…

Shower Repair Needed
We’ve spent the last twenty five years in our home and nothing has really gone wrong. The only issue we’ve really had is with our shower. The shower base is cracked and water keeps seeping through. We’ve tried sealing the crack over and over again but unfortunately the seal will only last for about three or so months until it starts leaking water again. My husband and I started weighing up our costs and recognised that leaving the crack could result in us having to spend more money in the future. It took me a few minutes of searching online to find out that if a shower base crack goes…

Neighbour’s Bathroom Help
It’s amazing how life evolves. When you’re young you’re constantly meeting new people who will come in and out of your life. As we age, the circle can get smaller. I’m now in my eighties, and sadly that circle for me is non-existent. My husband was that circle in my life, but sadly he passed away years ago. Unfortunately, we were never able to have children so I am also missing that portion of my life. I’m quite lucky to have the neighbour that I do. She’s this lovely woman in her forties that used to spend most of her days caring for her parents. I remember seeing her parents…

Karen Needs Glasses
They say that a person’s personality is largely developed by the age of seven. If this is true then, it’s safe to say that my daughter is a bit of a Karen. My gosh, she is actually the biggest drama queen. At times it’s hilarious, but other times it’s just downright frustrating. Her biggest complaints usually revolve around food or comfort. She’ll complain if her food is too hot, too cold, too crunchy or too mushy. I’ve even heard her once complain that her food was too green! She was eating a bowl of green grapes – something she had asked me for! Her complaints don’t stop there. If she…

Tattoo Together
My girlfriend and I have been together for two years. We have a very serious and loving relationship. We’re both definitely in this for the long haul. To celebrate our second anniversary together, we have decided to both get tattoos. We are huge fans of anime and are thinking that it would be totally adorable if we get anime cartoon characters that look like us tattooed on each other. The characters will be totally unique to us and I’ll get the one that looks like my girlfriend tattooed on my wrist, and she’ll get one of me tattooed on her wrist. That way, we will always be in each other’s…

House Specialist Grandparents
My parents passed away when I was young. Sadly, I can’t remember very much from that time and I hate to say that I can’t remember much of them. I was only three years old. There are only so many memories a three-year-old can make. I remember what they look like, and have vague memories of us together in our home but that’s about it. No doubt a lot of those memories are only with me because I have many photos to remember them by. I’ll never forget the day I found out that I’d never see my parents again. I had a sleepover at my grandparents house and I…
